Does a home energy rater need additional training to verify an Indoor airPLUS qualified home?
Home energy raters are not currently required to go through additional training or get new certification beyond the required Residential Energy Services Network approved rater certification. The Indoor airPLUS verification checklist and construction specifications have been designed so homes can be qualified without additional training. However, EPA encourages raters to seek additional training in indoor air quality to strengthen and maintain professional competencies. EPA is also collaborating with key building science training organizations to incorporate Indoor airPLUS features and principles into future indoor air quality training curricula. Technical questions related to Indoor airPLUS can be submitted to the Indoor airPLUS Mailbox.
